Mumbai. Filmmaker turned actor Anurag Kashyap called the recently released teaser of ‘Tanglan’ excellent. He pointed out the huge difference between Bollywood and South Industry films. He said, “Yesterday I saw the teaser of ‘Tanglan’ and thought, I don’t see such scenes in Hindi cinema. We don’t make such films.” He said that Bollywood has focused on shooting in foreign locations, while the makers of the South film industry do not do this. They bring the beauty of the country on screen in a different way.
Anurag Kashyap said, “We (Bollywood) shifted our focus from our roots and started making films in Britain and America. This created a huge separation which is not there in South Indian cinema. I get inspired by South Indian films and miss the Hindi films of that time”
The visual effects of South Indian films are good
Anurag Kashyap’s comments highlight a larger trend. Over the past 10 years, South Indian cinema has become quite popular for its unique stories and box office success. While North Indian cinema is struggling, South Indian films are known for their stunning visuals, which is a major reason for the difference between the two.
‘Tanglan’ is setting a new trend
With Chiyaan Vikram and Malavika Mohanan starrer ‘Tangal’, South Indian cinema wants to set new standards. It wants to give an experience that impresses through a unique, spectacular visual. Earlier releases ‘RRR’, ‘Bahubali’, ‘Kantara’, ‘KGF’, ‘Pushpa’ have set a standard for filmmaking. Bollywood makers have no match for the creativity of the South Industry. Tangalan has been made at a cost of Rs 150 crore. ‘Tangalan’ will be released worldwide on August 15 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
