Karthik Aryan’s film Chandu Champion has been released. The film has been released across the country on June 14. This is the same date on which Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide 4 years ago. He had also started preparations for the film, but after his death the film was stopped. However, the makers later completed the film with Karthik.
The film Chandu is a biopic of champion Paralympic gold medalist Muralikant Petkar. Years ago, Sushant Singh Rajput went to meet Muralikant Petkar. When Muralikant Petkar told his story, Sushant was very impressed by it. Sushant then decided that he would be a part of his biopic.

About 7 years ago, when director Kabir Khan wrote the script of Murlikant Petkar’s biopic, he had cast Sushant Singh Rajput in the film. Sushant had done all the preparations for the film and a part of the film was also shot with him.
During an interview, Sushant had said, ‘When I heard the story of Murlikant Petkar, I got emotional. I wanted to do this film without thinking. It is a very inspiring story. After playing the role of Dhoni, I am excited to play the role of Murlikant Petkar, who never let his physical handicaps come in his way. I like to play such characters who dream big’.
However, before the film could be made, on 14 June 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide by hanging himself in his Bandra house. Muralikant Petkar was badly shattered by Sushant’s death. Muralikant Petkar had told during an interview that Sushant met him for the last time in August 2019. He seemed very optimistic. He had promised Muralikant that he would present his story well. He says that he will never forget the time spent with Sushant. According to reports, after hearing the news of Sushant’s death, Muralikant Petkar kept looking at his path for a long time.
After Sushant’s death, the film was almost on the verge of closure. However, director Kabir Khan restarted the film by casting Kartik Aaryan in his place. Actually, in the year 2022, Kartik Aaryan was shooting for the film Satyaprem Ki Katha. This film was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. During the shooting, Sajid offered the film to Kartik. Sajid Nadiadwala is also the producer of the film Chandu Champion.

Muralikant Petkar created a world record by completing the race in 37.33 seconds in 50 meter freestyle swimming. He was awarded Padma Shri in the year 2018.
