‘Controversy is always associated with me. The makers of ‘Bigg Boss’ also thought that my controversial personality would prove beneficial for them. They would get more and more content. However, in real life I am not quarrelsome but mature and composed.

I have faced many ups and downs in life. In the beginning of my career, despite being talented, producers used to demand wrong things. Then despite being right, many associations boycotted me. It became difficult to put my point across even in front of family members. People think that I deliberately pretend. I was also tagged as Tantrum Queen.

This is what actress Shilpa Shinde has to say, who is seen as a contestant in ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 14’ this year. Before this, she has done many shows like ‘Bigg Boss 11’, ‘Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain’, ‘Maika’, ‘Chidiya Ghar’.

When I did my first show ‘Amrapali’, I shot 25 episodes at that time and then had to leave it midway due to some personal reasons. Unfortunately, the trend of leaving shows midway continued till my last show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’. This time I have decided that I will not leave ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ midway. Believe me, I do not do this intentionally. Not only people from the industry but even my friends say that you pretend. During ‘Jhalak…’, I was really ill. I had high fever and that is why I left the show midway.’

Producers would ask: What can you do to become a heroine?

Then I decided not to take my mother to the meeting. I wanted to see what the producer says. When I went, he said- ‘Hey, I couldn’t talk much in front of your mother, so I used to talk about this and that. Tell me, what can you do to become a heroine? What can you give in return?’ In response, I assured him that I will work hard, do rehearsals, script readings etc. I am even ready to work for less money. I cannot do anything more than this. In retaliation, he changed the topic and said the wrong thing in a roundabout way. He said- This is a common thing, everyone does it. I told them that whoever does it, you should work with them. In response, they said- you go and struggle in the industry, you will not get work like this. I believed in myself and moved forward.
