This Friday, two Bollywood films were released at the Indian box office. Ajay Devgan and Tabu starrer ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ and Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Uljh’. Both the films collected much less than expected on the first day.
The interesting thing is that despite being on its second Friday, Hollywood film ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ collected more than both these newly released films.
This is Ajay’s film with the lowest opening day collection in the last 14 years.
This became Ajay’s worst opening film
‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’, released this week, earned only 2 crores on the opening day. This became Ajay Devgan’s lowest opening film in the last 14 years. Earlier, Ajay’s film ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’, released in 2010, earned only 44 lakhs on the first day.
This film was directed by Neeraj Pandey who has so far made hit action-thrillers like ‘Special 26’, ‘A Wednesday’ and ‘Baby’. This time he has changed his genre and failed miserably.
Janhvi is seen in the role of an IFS officer in ‘Uljh’.
‘Uljh’ earned only 1.10 crores
On the other hand, Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Uljh’ also had a very bad start. The film collected only Rs 1 crore 10 lakh on the first day. On Friday, its occupancy across the country was only 13%.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has also commented on the poor collection of both the films.
‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ earned 94 crores
‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ made more collections than these two films. The film earned 4 crore 25 lakh rupees on its second Friday i.e. on the 8th day. With this, the total Indian box office collection of this film in 8 days has become 94 crore 15 lakh rupees.
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds play the lead roles in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
Marvel Universe’s 34th film ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ was released in the country on July 26 in four languages (English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu).
