The controversy over Annu Kapoor’s film ‘Humare Barah’ is not taking the name of ending. The producer and actors of this film made on a controversial subject are constantly receiving death and rape threats from unknown people.
Some of the actors of the film had lodged a complaint at Versova Police Station in Mumbai four days ago. Now actor Annu Kapoor has issued a video message and given his clarification on the film. He has also sought protection from Maharashtra Police and Home Ministry.
This video of Annu has been shared by the makers of the film ‘Humare Barah’ on their social media accounts.
I will tell the team- ‘There is no need to panic’
Annu said, ‘After watching the teaser of this film, we, our artists and the director are getting death threats.
We are getting these threats on social media and through phone calls too… but I would like to tell my team that there is no need to panic. Such things have happened many times before.
Don’t form opinions on social media: Annu
Annu further said- ‘I appeal to people not to form their opinion without watching the film. Our film talks about women empowerment and population control. Do not form your opinion on social media without watching it. Our aim is not to criticize any religion.’
Earlier, the actors associated with the film who were receiving death threats had filed a complaint at Versova Police Station in Mumbai.
Protection sought from Maharashtra Police and Home Ministry
In this video, Annu has also asked for protection from Maharashtra Police and Home Ministry. Annu said- ‘It is my humble request to Maharashtra Police, Home Minister and Home Ministry to provide protection to us and all the artists associated with this film. This is your duty. People associated with our film are getting threats of beheading.’
The teaser of the film ‘Humare Barah’ has been released. The film will be released on 7 June.
Remember, we will not sit silently
In the end Annu said- ‘All I will say is that India is no longer what it used to be.. India is different now.. We are not going to be scared of threats. The police of my country is very strong. If you try to disturb the peace, then remember we too will not sit quiet.’
Annu’s film was premiered at Cannes this year. Annu also attended the screening of the film along with the filmmakers.

The film is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on June 7. It also premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
Let us tell you, earlier the name of this film was ‘Hum Do Hamare Barah’. Now the name of the film has been changed to ‘Humare Barah’ on the orders of the censor board.
