New Delhi. The trailer of ‘Angry Young Men’ has been released recently, which has created a stir on the internet. This docu-series will tell the story of the Bollywood journey of the famous writer duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. Salim-Javed together wrote about 24 films, out of which 22 proved to be blockbusters. The special thing is that Salim-Javed’s fees were more than Amitabh Bachchan’s in those times.
Writers are acknowledged as the backbone of successful films across the world, but in Indian cinema they have often been given less importance. However, this was not the case with the Salim-Javed duo. Both of them earned a lot of fame on the basis of their talent and created history by charging the same fees as the top actors of that era.
Fees were more than Amitabh Bachchan
In the 1970s, Salim-Javed had become a guarantee of success. They gave one brilliant film after another like ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’, ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Deewar’ and ‘Sholay’. The trailer of ‘Angry Young Men’ shows that at the peak of their popularity, Salim-Javed used to charge Rs 21 lakh for a film, which was more than the fee of India’s highest paid actor Amitabh Bachchan at that time. At that time, Amitabh Bachchan’s fee was Rs 20 lakh, while Rajesh Khanna used to charge Rs 12 lakh and Shatrughan Sinha used to charge Rs 10 lakh.
‘Angry Young Men’ will be released on this day
In the ‘Angry Young Men’ trailer, Karan Johar quips, ‘Can you imagine a writer today demanding Rs 1 crore more than Salman Khan? That was the power of Salim-Javed.’ The trailer of the docu-series ‘Angry Young Men’ includes interviews of Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar and many other Bollywood stars. ‘Angry Young Men’ will hit Amazon Prime Video on August 20, 2024.
