New Delhi. Salim-Javed was one of the most popular writer duos of the 1970s. The duo gave Hindi cinema films like ‘Sholay’, ‘Deewar’, ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’. Today’s Hindi cinema likes to believe that ‘content is king’ but many years ago, people did not even use the word ‘content’ in common parlance. This was the era when Hindi cinema celebrated its writers. Did you know that this star duo had written the story of an all-time blockbuster film keeping Amitabh Bachchan in mind. But, he flatly refused to do the film. The writers also approached Rajesh Khanna with the film but he too turned them down. Then, the new actor got the film and he became a star overnight.
