New Delhi: Vinesh Phogat has been ruled out of the Paris 2024 Olympics due to being overweight, leaving her fans across the country disappointed and angry. Kangana Ranaut, who had taunted her while congratulating her on her semifinal win, has now reacted to her disqualification. Vinesh Phogat, who was scheduled to compete in the women’s 50kg category, was declared ineligible for being overweight on Thursday morning, the morning of the gold medal match.

Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has supported wrestler Vinesh Phogat after she was disqualified from the Paris 2024 Olympics wrestling event. Kangana Ranaut called Vinesh Phogat a lioness on Instagram and shared a photo of the wrestler on her Instagram story. In another Instagram story, Kangana posted a message that read, “Don’t cry Vinesh, the whole country stands with you.” The post is accompanied by an emotional graphic depicting the map of India. The photo symbolises the country’s support for the grieving athlete.

Kangana celebrated Vinesh Phogat’s spectacular 5-0 win over the Cuban wrestler. She praised Phogat’s performance and hoped that India would win its first gold medal at the Olympics. Kangana wrote, ‘India is expected to win the first gold medal. Vinesh Phogat had once participated in a protest where she raised slogans of ‘Modi teri kabra khudegi’. Yet she was given the opportunity to represent the country and receive excellent training. This is the beauty of democracy and the identity of a great leader.’ Kangana’s praise on Vinesh’s victory was taunted by people. Vinesh Phogat had performed exceptionally to reach the final.
