Francesco Bagnaia wins again, strange Marc Marquez maneuvers

MotoGP gala for Francesco Bagnaia in Assen! After pole position and sprint victory on Saturday, he also won the main race on Sunday in a commanding manner and left the Netherlands with the maximum number of points of 37. Jorge Martin came second, Enea Bastianini came third after catching up from tenth place on the grid. Marc Marquez deliberately slowed down several times in the race and did not get past fifth place.

In the World Championship, Bagnaia has reduced his deficit to Martin to just ten points. Marc Marquez is already 51 points behind, Bastianini 64.

Begin: Bagnaia gets off to a perfect start and defends his pole position ahead of Vinales, Martin and the Marquez brothers Alex and Marc.

1 round: Martin overtakes Vinales for second place, Marc Marquez overtakes his brother Alex for fourth place.

2nd round: Marc Marquez also catches Vinales and is now third.

4th round: Crash for Marco Bezzecchi! He slipped in turn 5, was able to continue the race at first, but eventually gave up.

5th round: Marc Marquez receives a track limits warning early in the race for three violations. Two more violations and he will have to do the long lap.

6th round: Di Giannantonio has overtaken Vinales and is back in fourth place.

7th round: Joan Mir crashed out of the race.

8th round: Di Giannantonio has passed Marquez. Marquez had previously turned around and waved Di Giannantonio past – a strange scene. Di Giannantonio is now third. He is 2.5 seconds behind second-placed Martin and 3.5 behind leader Bagnaia.

10th round: Bagnaia increases his lead over Martin to over a second for the first time.

18th round: As usual, Bastianini gets into his stride towards the end of the race. He overtakes Acosta to sixth place. He is only around one and a half seconds away from the podium.

19th round: Mistake by Di Giannantonio! Marquez doesn’t seem to want to overtake and so Vinales takes P3 ahead of Marquez and Di Giannantonio.

20th round: Now Bastianini has also overtaken Di Giannantonio into fifth place.

21st round: Bastianini pushes past Marquez with full force in Turn 1. Fourth place for the Ducati factory rider.

22nd round: Bastianini also overtakes Vinales in the final chicane and is now third.

26th and final round: Pedro Acosta crashed while in seventh place.

Vinales makes a mistake in the last sector and loses fourth place to Marc Marquez.

Goal: Bagnaia wins comfortably with 3.676 seconds ahead of Martin. Bastianini completes the podium. Marc Marquez comes fourth. Vinales comes in fifth, but is subsequently penalized for a track limit violation on the last lap and falls behind Di Giannantonio. Binder is the best KTM rider in seventh place. Alex Marquez is eighth ahead of Raul Fernandez, Morbidelli and Miller. Quartararo ends up in P12. The last points go to Zarco, Augusto Fernandez and Oliveira.
